Letting Go of Resentment
A Spell for Healing and Clarity
When I think about letting go of resentment, I think about the space I reclaim for myself. I want to honor the feelings that ask for my attention and the clarity that helps me choose what comes next. I offer this spell as an invitation to listen inward and reconnect with the energy you want to bring into your life.
Sometimes we carry an experience long after the moment has passed. We replay a conversation, remember a broken promise or feel the weight of giving more than we had to offer. Resentment may surface when our pain, needs or boundaries are asking to be heard.
We can begin by acknowledging what happened and what it means to us. From there, we can explore what deserves care, what needs to change and what we feel ready to release.
As High Priestess Zela Nimaya Abura, I invite you into this practice for reflection, healing and clarity. Bring your feelings as they are. Let your own readiness guide you.
Listening to What Resentment Reveals
Resentment can arise when we feel overlooked, experience unfair treatment or carry responsibilities that stretch us beyond our capacity. Beneath that feeling, we may discover grief, disappointment, exhaustion or a desire for greater respect.
Before beginning this spell, pause with this question: What is this feeling asking me to recognize?
Perhaps you need rest. Perhaps a relationship needs clearer expectations. Perhaps you are ready to speak honestly, seek support or choose a different direction.
Your answer can help shape your intention. A ritual becomes especially meaningful when its insights connect with choices that support your everyday wellbeing.
Letting go can happen alongside strong boundaries. You decide what forgiveness, connection and access mean in your life. Give yourself room to move at a pace that honors your experience.
Preparing Your Sacred Space
Choose a comfortable place where you can give yourself a few moments of attention. Let the space reflect what helps you feel grounded: natural light, music, a meaningful object or a view of the outdoors.
You may gather:
- A journal and something to write with.
- A crystal or another object that holds personal meaning.
- A flower, leaf or small plant to represent your connection with nature.
- A candle or battery-operated light.
If you use a flame, place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface and keep it attended.
Crystals can serve as symbolic companions in this practice. You might choose amethyst to represent clarity, rose quartz for compassion or black tourmaline for grounding. Let your own associations guide you.
Feel the support beneath your body. Take a few comfortable breaths and allow your breathing to follow its natural rhythm. Keep your eyes open or close them according to what feels comfortable.
Set an intention: I am here to listen to myself, honor my needs and make space for what supports my growth.
Inviting the Fae
Within my practice, the Fae represent a connection with nature, wonder and transformation. If working with the Fae resonates with you, you may invite their presence into this spell.
Place your flower, leaf or plant nearby. Let it remind you of nature’s rhythms: growth, change, rest and renewal.
You may speak this invocation: Fae of Earth and Air, I welcome your presence with respect. May this space hold clarity, compassion and wisdom as I return to myself.
You may also connect directly with the natural world. Notice the groundedness of the Earth, the movement of air or the ways nature makes room for new growth.
Choose the connection that feels meaningful and aligned to you.
A Spell for Release and Clarity
Acknowledge What You Carry
Bring your attention to one experience you feel ready to explore today. Name what you feel in a few words:
I feel disappointed.
I feel hurt.
I feel exhausted by how much I have carried.
Allow those words to hold your experience for this moment. You may speak them aloud or write them in your journal.
Then ask: What did I need in that experience, and what do I need now?
Perhaps you needed honesty, recognition or support. Perhaps you now need distance, a clear conversation or time to restore your energy.
Give yourself a moment to listen.
Speak Your Intention
Hold your chosen crystal or meaningful object, or rest your hands comfortably in your lap.
Recite this incantation 3 times, or as many times as feels right:
I honor what I have felt.
I welcome clarity about what I need.
I release what I am ready to release.
May my peace grow alongside my boundaries.
May my energy return to the life I am creating.
Speak at your own pace. Notice which line feels most meaningful and give it a moment of attention.
Visualize Making Space
Imagine a vibrant blue light surrounding you, like the shimmer of butterfly wings. You have room to breathe, reflect and choose.
Picture what you are ready to release as a shape, color or texture. Perhaps it appears as a tightly held thread, a heavy stone or a cloud moving through your awareness.
With each comfortable exhale, imagine your grip easing. You may visualize the thread loosening, the stone resting on the Earth or the cloud drifting across the sky.
Let the image change at its own pace. A small shift can carry meaning.
If you prefer a physical gesture, open your hands and notice the sensation of creating space in your palms.
Welcome What You Want to Cultivate
Imagine warm golden light around your heart. Let it represent a quality you would like to bring into your next chapter such as self-trust, courage, rest, compassion or clarity.
You may say:
I welcome peace that honors my experience.
I welcome choices that support my wellbeing.
I welcome the courage to care for myself.
Rest with your intention for a few moments. Consider how that quality may show up in your daily life.
Courage may look like expressing a need. Rest may look like protecting an evening for yourself. Self-trust may begin with honoring a decision you have already made.
Closing the Spell
Bring your attention back to the room. Feel your feet on the floor or the support of your seat. Notice a few colors, sounds or textures around you.
If you invited the Fae, offer your thanks: Thank you for sharing this sacred space. I carry its meaning into my choices, my boundaries and my daily life.
Thank yourself for making time to listen.
You may feel lighter, thoughtful, emotional or much as you did when you began. Meet your response with curiosity. Healing can unfold through many moments of recognition and care.
Write one sentence to close the practice:
Today, I am making space for _____________________________________.
Bringing Your Intention Into Everyday Life
The insight you receive during a ritual can guide a practical next step. Return to the need you identified and consider one action that supports it.
You may choose to:
- Give yourself time to rest before responding to a difficult conversation.
- Clarify what you can realistically offer.
- Write down a boundary you want to communicate.
- Ask a trusted person for support.
- Return to a creative activity that helps you feel connected to yourself.
Choose something manageable. A clear request, an hour of rest or a few minutes of creative expression can help turn reflection into care.
This spell offers a practice for personal reflection. When feelings become overwhelming or affect daily life, a qualified mental health professional can offer additional support alongside your chosen practices.
You can return to this spell as your needs evolve. Each visit offers another opportunity to listen and choose with intention.
Journal Prompts for Reflection
Let these questions guide your writing. Choose the ones that speak to you today.
- What experience is asking for my attention, and what feelings arise when I think about it?
- What need or value sits beneath my resentment?
- What would help me feel heard, supported or respected?
- What boundary could support my peace?
- What am I ready to release, and what still needs care?
- Where would I like to direct more of my energy?
- What is one act of self-respect I can practice today?
Your words can be unfinished, emotional or exploratory. Give yourself room to discover what you mean.
