What Is a Birth Card?

Cardology connects the days of the year with a standard deck of playing cards. Your Birth Card is the card associated with your birth month and day. It remains the same throughout your life.

The suit suggests an area of experience, and the rank introduces an additional symbolic theme. Reading them together can inspire questions about relationships, priorities, personal gifts and the ways you move through life.

The calendar determines the card. Your curiosity and discernment guide what the symbolism means to you.

How is a Birth Card calculated?

The Cardology birthday formula is 55 − (2 × month number + day number). The resulting value maps to the four suits: Hearts 1–13, Clubs 14–26, Diamonds 27–39 and Spades 40–52. Ace is 1 within a suit, Jack is 11, Queen is 12 and King is 13. January 27 gives 26, the King of Clubs. December 31 gives 0, traditionally the Joker. February 29 is available in the lookup.
