Embracing Imperfection: Finding Peace in Self-Acceptance Growing up and into my adulthood, I was constantly inundated with messages of perfection. We see it in advertising, social media, and even in our personal relationships. Everywhere we turn, we’re told that we need to be perfect in order to be happy. It’s easy to get caught up in this idea, and to believe that if we just fix our flaws and shortcomings, we’ll finally achieve the happiness and fulfillment we crave. The truth is, however, that perfection is an illusion that can never truly be attained. No matter how hard we try, we will always fall short of some idealized standard of perfection. Even if we manage to achieve one goal, there will always be another one…
